Nokhbagan Hoshmand (NH) Management Consultancy Company is implementing a livelihoods and enterprise development initiative in partnership with the Afghan Youth Empowerment Organization aimed at strengthening sustainable income opportunities and economic resilience among women engaged in traditional and agricultural value-chain businesses.
The project focuses on establishing specialized women-led cluster business centers supported through comprehensive assessments, provision of essential equipment, targeted capacity development, and practical business training to enhance productivity, product quality, and market competitiveness.
Key Scope and Interventions
Carpet Weaving Cluster Business Center
NH is facilitating the assessment, establishment, and operational strengthening of a structured production hub supporting women involved in carpet weaving and related value-chain activities.
The intervention includes needs assessment of production systems and workspace requirements, provision of appropriate equipment such as looms and basic tools, and delivery of technical capacity-building and business management training. Women beneficiaries receive coaching on design interpretation, pattern mapping, quality assurance, production planning, and collective marketing approaches.
The center is expected to directly benefit approximately 35 women producers, while also creating indirect opportunities for more than 100 additional women through improved access to shared facilities, skills development, and strengthened market linkages.
Honey Processing Cluster Business Center
The project also supports the assessment, establishment, and technical strengthening of a dedicated honey processing facility aimed at improving hygiene standards, reducing post-harvest losses, and enhancing commercial readiness of women engaged in beekeeping and honey production.
Key activities include provision of essential processing equipment, technical and business skills training on extraction, filtration, grading, packaging, storage, and seasonal production management. Capacity-building efforts also focus on strengthening enterprise practices, product quality control, and access to local market opportunities.
The intervention is expected to directly support approximately 45 women entrepreneurs, while indirectly benefiting additional women through cluster-based training, knowledge sharing, and value-chain integration.
Capacity Development and Business Strengthening Support
Across both centers, NH delivers structured training programmes, technical mentoring, and coordination support to strengthen women’s business skills, leadership capacity, and cooperative production approaches. The initiative promotes improved operational systems, enhanced production efficiency, and stronger engagement with buyers and market actors.
Results Focus
Through integrated support combining assessment, equipment provision, technical capacity development, and business training, the project contributes to increased income generation, strengthened local value chains, and improved economic resilience for women entrepreneurs and their households. The initiative also supports broader community-level socio-economic stability by expanding sustainable livelihood opportunities.
