Nokhbagan Hoshmand (NH) Management Consultancy Company is currently implementing a comprehensive economic empowerment initiative focused on strengthening the resilience, competitiveness, and sustainability of women-led enterprises in Badakhshan Province.
The project supports the establishment and operationalization of a Women-Led Business Center (WADA) designed to serve as a long-term institutional hub for business development, financial inclusion, technical capacity building, and market access for rural women entrepreneurs.
Key Interventions
Institutional Development and Governance Strengthening
NH is facilitating the creation of a functional governance structure for the WADA Business Center, including the development of Terms of Reference (ToRs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and the formation of women-led management committees. Capacity-building sessions on leadership, strategic management, and business governance are strengthening the center’s ability to operate sustainably beyond the project lifecycle.
Cluster-Based Business Development and Technical Support
Women entrepreneurs across key economic sectors — including handicrafts, dairy production, beekeeping, dry fruits, and agribusiness — are receiving targeted technical assistance through a cluster approach. This includes on-site coaching, production improvement support, quality assurance guidance, and market linkage facilitation to enhance business performance and competitiveness.
Infrastructure and Asset Support for Business Operations
The project includes assessment, procurement, and installation of essential furniture, equipment, and operational assets for the WADA Business Center, including support for women-managed retail and training spaces. These interventions aim to create an enabling environment for knowledge exchange, product promotion, and enterprise growth.
Financial Inclusion and Market Linkages
NH is supporting the establishment of savings groups, financial literacy training, and partnerships with microfinance institutions and Islamic banking providers to improve access to women-friendly financial services. Marketing committees and promotional initiatives are also being developed to strengthen product visibility and expand market opportunities.
Sustainability and Exit Strategy Development
A structured sustainability framework is being developed to ensure long-term viability of the WADA Business Center through income-generation mechanisms, institutional partnerships, and community ownership. The project includes preparation of financial sustainability plans, operational SOPs, and a phased handover strategy.
Results Focus
By strengthening institutional capacity, improving access to finance and markets, and enhancing technical business skills, the initiative is contributing to increased economic resilience, leadership, and income-generation opportunities for women entrepreneurs in Badakhshan Province.
