Conduct carpet center assessments, develop contextual training materials, deliver training, facilitate on-the-job learning, and ensure effective capacity building.
Tasks (Performance Requirements): The Carpet Business Development Specialist will perform the following activities.
- Conduct comprehensive market research and carpet production/workshop assessments to identify opportunities, constraints, and growth potential for women-led carpet enterprises.
- Develop and implement strategic business and operational plans to improve production efficiency, product quality, and market reach for female artisans.
- Provide hands-on technical assistance and on-the-job mentoring to women carpet artisans, cooperatives, and small businesses on weaving techniques, finishing, and quality standards.
- Design and deliver practical, needs-based training programs on weaving, finishing, quality assurance, and packaging tailored to women entrepreneurs.
- Develop contextual training materials, manuals, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent, high-quality production practices.
- Facilitate market linkages between women producers, suppliers, buyers, and relevant stakeholders to strengthen domestic and international market access.
- Monitor production processes, product quality, compliance with industry standards, and market trends to enhance competitiveness and sustainability.
- Provide guidance on business planning, financial literacy, and enterprise management to strengthen the performance and resilience of women-led carpet businesses.
- Prepare progress reports, track performance indicators, document lessons learned

Job Requirements
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in international trade, Development studies and / or Economic or a related field is required; a Master’s degree in these fields will be considered an advantage.
- Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in business development, market facilitation, or value chain support, preferably with a reputable INGO, UN agency, or development organization.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic computer operations.
- Ability to work professionally in a team and independently, with honesty, proactivity, and cultural sensitivity.
- Knowledge of market assessment, business planning, and enterprise development is an advantage.
- Open to Afghan nationals with a commitment to supporting local businesses and community development.
Languages: Written and Spoken Fluency in English and Dari and/or Pashto, both.
Geography: Based in Kabul, if needed will be traveling to provinces
